There are lots of opportunities to volunteer. Read about all our volunteer roles below and then fill out the volunteer form.
*Volunteers must be 18 or older to work directly with animals.
Under 18 can volunteer in several areas, with guardian supervision.
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
Animal Care
Volunteers in Animal Care will help with cleaning kennels, daily walks, group play, and some behavior training (don't worry, we'll train YOU first!). You must be 18 years or older to help with Animal Care.
Facility Maintenance
Are you handy with tools & machinery? Can you hammer a nail, use a screw gun, or weed a garden? All skill levels are needed to help us maintain our 40 acre property. All ages welcome to help in Facility Maintenance (under 18 needs adult supervision). Boy & Girl Scout troops highly encouraged to apply.
Transport & Rescue
Volunteers in Transport & Rescue will help pick up animals tagged at local municipal shelters and transport them to Jake's House of Animal Rescue for care. Volunteers may be responsible for picking up animals at Jake's House to attend off-site adoption events around the Greater Houston area. When an out-of-state transport is scheduled, volunteers will help get animals ready and loaded in vans for the trip. Do you like road trips? We need volunteers to help transport animals to out-of-state rescues too!
Marketing & Development
Do you love meeting new people and attending events? Are you a fantastic graphic designer, photographer or marketing guru? We could use your help! Our Marketing & Development team is small, and Houston is HUGE! Sign up to help us create new marketing materials, photograph the animals or events, or pass out and share information about Jake's House. We could use you on our team!
"Jake's Buried Treasure" - Resale Store
We are opening a resale shop in Humble to help generate funding for Jake's House of Animal Rescue. This store will be 100% volunteer run, so we need all hands on deck to help with sales, customer service, organizing and sorting donations.
Outreach & Education
As we grow, we will add Outreach and Education to our programming. Volunteers in this group will help us host events, meet with potential donors, educate the public about responsible pet ownership, what to do if you find a stray, the importance of spay/neuter and more! Volunteers will present at schools, festivals, corporate luncheons, adoption events and off-site marketing opportunities.
There's still so much to be done, but
Ready or not... here we go!
